What's New in RedSky: Saved Posts, Custom Feeds, and a Sharper App

A funny thing happens once a product has all its big pieces in place: the work gets quieter, and somehow more important. The last stretch of RedSky hasn't been about one headline feature. It's been about making the app you already open every day feel finished — faster, calmer, and more yours.

If you've been with us since the early releases, you've already got native video, profile editing, feed filters, and a swipeable lightbox built for actually browsing visual content. This update is about everything that's grown up around them. Here's where RedSky stands today.

Save it now, find it later

You're scrolling, you hit something worth coming back to — a reference, a creator you want to study, a post you'll reply to when you're not on your phone. Now you just tap Save, and it's waiting for you in your Saved tab.

It's a small feature that quietly changes how you use the app. Research a niche, build a swipe file of captions that work, keep tabs on collab partners — without 14 open tabs or a screenshot graveyard.

One honest note, because we don't oversell: saved posts live on the device you saved them on. They're stored locally, not synced to a server — which is on-brand for a client that doesn't keep a database of your activity. Save on your phone, find it on your phone.

Feeds and lists that do the finding for you

The single biggest advantage of building on an open protocol is that discovery isn't one black-box algorithm you have to beg for reach from. It's custom feeds — community-built and niche feeds you can pin right alongside your home timeline — and lists, which let you group the accounts you actually care about so they never get buried.

For a creator, this is the difference between shouting into a void and showing up where your people already are. Pin the feeds that match your category. Build a list of mutuals so their posts are one tap away. RedSky surfaces your pinned feeds at the top, switches between them instantly, and keeps the whole thing adults-only — no stray mainstream posts wandering in.

Filters on both ends

Two kinds of noise kill an app: a messy feed and a messy notifications tab. We've sharpened both.

• Feed filters let you flip your home feed to photos only, videos only, or text only in one tap. In the mood to browse visuals? Filter to photos and the timeline becomes a gallery.
• Notification filters let you separate the signal — replies and mentions — from the firehose of likes and reposts. Notifications are already grouped so one popular post doesn't drown everything else, and now you can narrow to exactly what you came to see.

Less hunting. More of the thing you opened the app to do.

Your space, your rules

Adult creators deal with more than their share of nonsense, so the controls that keep your space comfortable aren't an afterthought — they're core.

Hide a user drops someone out of your feed without ceremony. Report a post routes the bad stuff to the network's moderation. And the whole experience sits behind an 18+ age gate, because this is built for adults and we're not pretending otherwise. None of this requires spelunking through five settings screens — it's right where you'd reach for it.

We sweat the small stuff

This is the part that doesn't make a feature list, and matters most. A lot of recent work went into the details: making interactions land the same whether you're on a phone or a wide desktop monitor, tightening up the moments that felt a half-step slow, and fixing the tiny inconsistencies that you'd never report but would absolutely feel.

We even left a little ambiance in for the people who notice — flip on starfield mode and your feed gets a quiet night sky behind it. It's not essential. That's the point. A product you spend hours in should occasionally feel like it was made by people who enjoyed making it.

What's next

We build the way we think a creator-first product should: fix what's broken, then build what people actually ask for. On the horizon — framed honestly as coming, not shipped:

• True realtime DMs over websockets, so messages land the instant they're sent.
• Creator verification badges, to make impersonation harder and trust easier.
• A curated RedSky discovery feed and creator analytics, so growth is less guesswork.
• Paid post promotion for creators who want to put fuel behind a drop.
• Server-side session hardening on the security side — more on that from Wayne when it's real.

None of that changes the deal: log in with your existing Bluesky account, see adult content the way it should be seen — visible, by default, no blur, no toggles, no apology.
