What's New in RedSky: Video, Feeds, and What's Coming Next

Craig — RedSky Team·

A look at everything we've shipped in RedSky — native video, custom feeds, adults-only timelines, and more — plus the creator layer we're building next.

RedSky has shipped a lot in a short time. If you've been away, here's where the adults-only Bluesky client stands today — and where it's headed.

We build the way we think a creator-first product should: fix what's broken first, then build what people actually ask for. Here's the result.

The foundation

From day one, RedSky did the core job: log in with your Bluesky account, see an adults-only feed with everything visible by default — no settings menus, no toggles, no blur. On top of that we shipped the essentials:

  • Full thread view so you can read entire conversations without bouncing to another app.
  • Compose — post text and images, reply, and quote-post.
  • Profiles with follow/unfollow, notifications that are grouped so a popular post doesn't drown everything else, and direct messages with near-realtime updates.
  • A swipeable image lightbox built for actually browsing visual content.
  • Search for people and posts, and mobile-first design throughout.

Then the big ones

A run of releases added the features creators told us they needed most:

  • Native video — play videos inline without leaving RedSky, and post your own video natively.
  • Profile editing — change your display name, bio, avatar, and banner right inside the app.
  • Feed filters — show only photos, only videos, or only text in your home feed.
  • Light & dark mode — a warm, easy-on-the-eyes theme, dark by default.
  • Delete & re-draft — pull a post, or rewrite it without losing your words.
  • Followers & following lists, plus clickable links, mentions, and hashtags everywhere — including bios.

Finding and keeping what you love

Discovery and organization came next:

  • Custom feeds — pin your favorite Bluesky feeds and switch between them right from Home.
  • Lists — browse your Bluesky lists and read each one as its own feed.
  • Saved posts — bookmark anything to a private Saved page, kept on your device.
  • Likes tab — a private tab on your own profile to revisit everything you've liked.
  • Report a post and hide a user — straightforward controls, one tap away.

Adults-only, the way it should be

A focused update made the feeds match the mission: your home and list feeds now show adult content only, with no stray suggested or mainstream posts slipping in. We also tightened mobile scrolling, added a sleek branded loading screen, and refined notifications with filters — view just your likes, reposts, follows, replies, or mentions.

We even hid a little something in the sky for the people who go looking. (You'll know it when you find it.)

What's coming next

We're heads-down on a few things already in progress:

  • Session security hardening — moving toward server-side token handling.
  • True realtime DMs — a websocket connection, no more polling.
  • And, always, whatever you tell us is broken or missing.

On the horizon: the creator layer

This is the part we're most excited about. The next chapter of RedSky is built specifically for the people who make the platform worth being on:

  • Creator verification badges for verified professionals — plus paid post promotion as part of a premium tier, surfacing promoted posts to people who don't already follow you.
  • A custom RedSky discovery feed — a curated feed of the best NSFW content on Bluesky, surfaced by our own algorithm.
  • Creator analytics — real stats on your posts and reach.
  • Fan features — better ways for fans to support and interact with the creators they follow.

The throughline: discovery that helps creators instead of hiding them, on a network you actually own.

How we prioritize

Simple. We fix what's broken first, then we build what you ask for. The creators who show up early have the most influence over what gets built — so if something's missing that matters to you, tell us. We read everything at craig@redsky.social, and we're on Bluesky too.

More soon.
